Polka Dots for Hilary

Here we are in our lovely polka dot dress!

And if all goes according to plan this afternoon, I shall be rocking the white linen pants!

Smile!

Someone is all about the big smiles these days! And we are giggling, not quite the big belly laugh, but a very proud of our self giggle.

She can also hold her head up by herself. She has probably been able to do this for a while, we just noticed yesterday when she was sitting in her dad's lap and all he was doing was keeping her from falling to either side. She had the rest of the whole sitting up thing under control.

Polka Dots!

Felt the need to shake up the format here! And we all know how I feel about polka dots!

Need to take a picture of Freya in her most fabulous polka dot gray and pink dress for this post!

I may need to get out more...

Updates and Such

Lets see - a rather uneventful weekend, just the way I like weekends to be. Freya got her 2 month immunizations on Friday, and she did beautifully - no fever or crankiness (other than the someone just jabbed 3 holes in my legs, I'm gonna scream for a while crankiness). She conked out for the night at around 9, and I then fell asleep on the sofa with her at around 9:30.
Saturday we vacuumed the house - one of her favorite pass times, and then we went and had Mexican for lunch, well Chris and I had Mexican, Freya took a nap.
Sunday was remarkable because she took a long afternoon nap, and I finally (!) got to dye my hair a lovely shade of auburn. I now have what I consider my natural color again (Irish Setter Red). Next is a nice hair cut at the end of August!
And so far today - I got a filling fixed, so now I can chew on both sides of my mouth. It does feel like the filling is a little high still, but I'm going to wait a little bit - till all the numbness wears off - and I have a meal or two on both sides before I call. I have been eating on only the right side of my mouth for the past month, so that may be why it feels odd...
Now, I just need to get the white linen pants I saw Friday out of my head. With any luck, when I swing by Marshall's tonight they will have been sold! But if they are still there, I will most likely purchase upon them - and then purchase all the bleach I can fit in a grocery cart!!

Dude

I totally forgot to post Freya Friday #2! So I present Freya Friday moonlighting on Tuesday:
Things have settled down into a very nice routine during the week, well in that we all get out of the house with all our bags and whatnot and I don't leave the kitchen sink running. Now, if I could just get myself together and leave the house at the same time in the morning we'd be set! However, we are just on week three of this after all. And we have yet to have a "normal" week as far as work schedules go, with new work schedules and a crazy list of doctors visits between now and oh sometime in September... Lord, and I thought all the OB visits were a pain in the ass; they were nothing compared to the amount of appointments this child has had already!!
I do wonder: Why in the hell is it necessary to have monthly "Well Baby" check-ups?? I would be happy with every couple of months - but every 4 weeks seems a little excessive to me... Would I feel differently if I had given birth to a 5 pound baby and called the doctor every time time she sneezed?

Am I Evil?

Yes I Am.

Am also smug.

Thumb vs. Binky

Freya has figured out how to get her thumb in her mouth, she has been trying to get that worked out from the day she was born. I'm still bummed that the camera was at the other end of the house when she figured it out, because the look on her face was priceless (the "ha! got you - you bastard - take that" look). In the morning, after she eats and I am cramming something in my mouth, she'll holler for a little bit then remember that she has a thumb and then she'll sit quietly with it in her mouth. Evenings are when she likes a pacifier, usually when I'm making dinner and she is charming the socks off her father. She looks so much like Maggie from the Simpson's, the way she sucks on the pacifier, it's really cute.

Her favorite game to play with her father right now is to smile and almost giggle when he kisses her on the head. She has also discovered the dragonfly mobile in her crib. Which is very useful in the afternoon when I need to get chores done, it will hold her attention for about 15 minuets. It is amazing what I can cram into that short amount of time these days.

She is also enjoying "tummy time" with her boppy most afternoons. After afternoon nap, she is usually up for a couple hours now (say 6 to 9:30-ish) and what better time to work on head control!! Tummy time is also known as grouchy baby drooling on boppy, while cat keeps the dogs under control time.

Week Seven

I can't believe that it has been seven weeks already! Oddly - I was sure that my incredible discomfort when I was pregnant would have stayed with me a little longer than it did. But, it was replaced with the sliced and diced discomfort of the c-section.

Had my postpartum visit today, and got cleared for exercise and wink wink, nudge nudge, know-what-I-mean know-what-I-mean.

On the Freya front: she is now smiling at us when we talk to her and following us with her eyes.

She is also sleeping in a 7 hour stretch at night (knock on wood).
And now a Piglet picture:

The 5 Best Things About Living In Atlanta

1. We get spring temperatures for several months, instead of a couple of days.
2. Awesome local brewery (Sweetwater) and their blueberry beer.
3. My day lily's bloom from April through October!!
4. Making the most of my wretched commute by using that time to either call family and friends or listening to whatever I have on my iPod, and just enjoying the hour (both ways) that I have all to myself.
5. NikeTown and the Container Store are right near my office.

For Carol and Katherine

She can still wear the booties! Unfortunately, she hates all hats. The nurses in the hospital kept trying to get her to wear one, and she got so good at getting out of them: at two days old, three shimmies and she was out of the hat.

Because I Can't Help Myself

Some pictures of the Piglet.

The Girls

The first born is Misha, a 10 year old seal point Siamese cat.

Then came Maggie, a 4 year old German Shorthaired Pointer.
Next is Moose, a 7 month old black Lab.
The latest addition is Freya, the most beautiful baby girl.
And now a picture of Freya and her father, because I love the picture.
Coming up next: the crazy shenanigans of estrogen central!
